Hi, Jason Thayer here! Well, Arri posted her first entry, which detailed the origins of our project. So I thought I would talk about how I came up with the heroine, Sophia.
One figure in the Bible who has always intrigued me is the Virgin Mary. What made her so special? Before I go any further, I need to tell you that I am a Roman Catholic. We Catholics believe that Mary was free from original sin from birth and passed that on to Jesus (note: Please do not debate me in the comments or on the forums. I will accept debates privately and/or on Facebook.
One question I have often pondered over is what happened to her after Jesus was crucified. When Jesus gave Mary over to John prior to His death, this was meant to symbolize Mary's new position as the Mother of the Church, which is why We Catholics pray to her for her intercession. She led to my creation of Sophia. I knew that my "fellowship" would need a mother, and I could think of no better model than the Virgin Mary.
